PERSONALITY
Not belonging is a terrible feeling. It feels awkward and it hurts, as if you were wearing someone else's shoes

Jason is a flirt, he leads a lifestyle of comfort and without the previous confines in every walk of his life, to a point. When talking about his past, he becomes surly, aggressive and even short with people, he isn’t font of the memories it inspires or the bitterness it makes him succumb to, it also sparks the fire of rebellion in his mind, reminding him of the exact reasons he left to begin with and is usually the predecessor to him shutting down completely, hiding behind a mask of silence. He can also be quite impulsive, a side effect of his new found freedom. If he wants something he will normally have it, and when he doesn’t he can get frustrated or put down, especially considering he spent so much of his life growing up with absolutely nothing except for tests and training.

When left without cigarettes and alcohol, Jason can be a downright bastard. You could call him addicted and he’d be quick to agree with you but they’re the only two consistent things he’s been doing since he first got to the planet, finding that one relaxed him and the other left him feeling everything that little bit less.

He does however have a sense of humour and loves joking around with people, he considers this part of his casual nature. Fun is the kind of thing you can get away with without ever having to worry about someone thinking you’re different, fun was an easy thing to settle for, considering he didn’t exactly know how to inspire emotions in people to begin with.

Unfortunately due to most of Jason's training he is slow to trust, he shies away from other people and has lost the meaning of ‘family’ a long time ago when they surrendered him to the army. However, once someone has worked his way into his circle of trust he is fiercely protective, the same protective feelings he harbors for innocent people.

In relationships, Jason hasn't ever had the chance to fully develop one before, he's lead up to this point a string of several casual relationships, never being with one man for more than a night, finding that a casual level of intimacy was satisfying for him but in a way that left him longing. Unfortunately he also never stayed in contact with friends for more than a week, he liked to move around both for safety and to see this new world, wanting to devote all of his time to new experiences until he felt thoroughly human, he does however let himself dream of these things late at night, but when morning comes he just registers them as another impracticality.

Jason does have an aggressive nature, simply because he spent so much of his life being trained to kill it makes that kind of conditioning hard to forget, there are times that he acts quickly, barely reigning himself in and leads to a slight air of bitterness when these things happen. Unfortunately due to this he’s also very paranoid about almost everything. When people ask too many questions he drops straight into a habit of lying which he is coincidentally very good at, he however is a massive hypocrite in this regard as he will basically interrogate new people before they can get too close.

He is however learning to indulge himself to the brighter emotions of hope and happiness, and can get ahead of himself sometimes; always looking to better himself in some way so that he doesn’t feel like the machine his planet expected him to be. Unfortunately for them his ability to feel is what lead him here to begin with. It’s hard to be a killing machine when you can feel the pain of those you’re up against.

In regards to meeting new people, unless he’s flirting it can be a very slow start. His curious nature wins out with all new encounters, he likes to know about other people and to see how they tick. He likes to keep up a positive attitude unless he’s rubbed up the wrong way, being friendly for the sake of being friendly. Especially because if people think you’re being friendly, they’re more likely to be open with you. He’s open about himself in a way that doesn’t lead to any specifics, which means that people may view him as superficial despite the fact that a lot of his thoughts run deep. Of course, Five is also quite likely to let his flirtatious side come out, which is nearly impossible to stop if he’s been drinking, for him its a way to connect with people and opening opportunities he might not otherwise have and as just another way to enjoy himself.

He has a strong dislike of people who come off as immediately intimidating and especially those who like to bully, manipulate or attempt in any way to command them against their wishes. These kinds of situations are the kind that bring out his own intimidating qualities. Also, when he meets new people that are difficult to immediately figure out, he finds himself resorting to sarcasm to deal with awkward situations which can come off as slightly abrasive however he rarely means half of the things that come out of his mouth purely for the sake of conversation when he has the more important friend-or-threat analysis going on. All in all, if you can get past the fact that he can have some obnoxious qualities, mostly he just needs companionship, he spent so much of his life alone that even a little bit of kindness geared in the right direction can make the world of difference as to whether you’ll get the friendly flirtatious, or the rough sarcastic side of the alien.

PLANET | HISTORY
I'd rather die my way than live yours

The planet Triskele

Home is a word Five would never attribute to the planet. It is a place without personality; built around one city which had all the grace of an army barracks. The planet is the equivalent of a massive metal construct and anything that might seem natural has been entirely synthesised by the planet’s scientists. Towers throughout their world pump oxygen out and filter the almost poisonous quality out of their air; there is no more plant or animal life left native to the land. In terms of weather it is barely noticeable thanks to the dense clouds of smog settling in the planet’s atmosphere.

When their planet originally started to die, thanks to millennia of a race doing what they want whenever they wanted in terms of technology, waste and their own unfettered use of natural resources, they realised they would need resources to continue their way of life, or at least the way of life they’d grown accustomed to. Even though the scientists eventually managed to make the air - polluted by whatever cocktails of chemicals and fumes their factories and vehicles were expelling - breathable for the Triskelien themselves, they took so long doing so that many the animals died and people got sick, leading to the unfortunate system of conscription for all Triskelion men. This lead them to turn to the only real option they had, attacking other planets for their resources and anything that had a significant worth. For the last one-hundred years the greatest aspect of the Triskelien race has been their army and their ability to pillage any planet they set their eye on.

In terms of hierarchical structure the country is run by a triumvirate of Generals who have put enough effort into conquering their enemies to eventually retire, these three men had been soldiers before the conscription itself started and part of the coup against the original leaders. These men are the war leaders but also create the laws for the planet. There used to be a monarchy when the planet was going through more peaceful times, a family supposedly placed on the planet by some Divine Creator of legend. Their line was certainly the oldest family line known of so there wasn’t much dispute. However, this was quickly overturned when the royal family were under the belief that they shouldn’t have to fight wars on behalf the planet in order to get the resources necessary to continue living in their indolent way.

This new way of the Triskelien people soon become second nature to all, especially those born within the last one-hundred years so it was a great surprise when Five, thanks to his empathy, could no longer stand to be part of such a destructive service. For Five the pillaging ways of their race were abhorrent, from his perspective it had always been a case of what he could or even should do with his powers that would be helpful. It didn’t help that the moment he developed a couple too many he had to deal with the hatred from his peers because for whatever reason they saw him as different or strange for his extra powers, which he thought had to do with jealousy. But he also then had the huge task of being a special project for the military, because his five powers were considered to be useful enough to make him a high priority for training. He hated it, he refused to become jaded and so destructively selfish like the rest of his people. Add the fact that his empathy flared into such extreme heights during his first training excursion to a planet during the time that the Triskelien army were pillaging it, the onslaught of despair and hurt from the foreign race just confirmed it in his mind and his heart that he could never be what the army wanted him to be and could never wrong innocent people like that for the sake of profit.

Strategically the army relied entirely on men, the members of their race who developed three powers to help embolden their cause, mostly offensive in nature. The women developed defensive powers but rarely were made part of the army, mostly left behind to deal with the children or at least those who hadn’t entered into the army’s academies so far.

All boys on the planet enter into a different type of educational training at the tender age of eight. This is due to the fact that around this time their powers start to develop properly. This happens to each male member of the culture. They take classes in skills such as weaponry and tactics. They’re also taught about infiltration and subterfuge in case they are part of early reconnaissance teams sent to a new planet. These skills were some of the most useful to have for Five as they were the leading factor in his ability to blend in on Earth. They also had to undergo a regime directed towards improving physical fitness so that they didn’t rely too heavily on their powers. These trainees are instilled with the knowledge that they will be part of the reserve defence force at fourteen, where training takes on an entirely practical front so they can adapt all of the knowledge into honing their capabilities into a workable real-world setting.

Personal History

Five, or Jason as he is known now, used to be a soldier in Triskele’s attack force. He was raised the same way as everyone else, a strict lifestyle of education and training. Like all men born in the planet he knew he’d have to join the military by the age of fourteen. Something was special about the men of this planet in their ability to develop 3 powers to help fight on the planet’s behalf. Unfortunately for Five, he showed early signs of developing extra powers, hence the nickname. It was unheard of and he was shunned by those his age, especially when their teachers took special interest. Five’s powers became the word on everyone’s lips on his eighth birthday which was already was meant to be a special day due to developing powers to begin with. This meant that because of their jealousy or a dislike of anything strange Five was left with a family that wanted the military to take him away as soon as possible and didn’t even have the luxury of friends. His childhood was spent alone. He was sought after by the army because extra powers meant extra killing potential and that was something they really wanted.

You see, fighting on the planet’s behalf on Triskele seemed normal, but Five’s feelings on the matter were set, their army wasn’t defensive, it was a corps of destruction lead by a triumvirate of megalomaniacs always looking to get their hands on new territory, regardless of how difficult the wars may be. Soldiers were raised to either kill or die, there wasn’t retirement only advancement. If one of the Triumvirate were to die a soldier with enough prestige could take his place.

After going through many years of training by himself as the army’s special project. Five grew to forget his family and forget the concept of actually living his life. He was always treated as some form of weapon rather than an actual sentient being, and he grew to tolerate it no longer. This came to a head after his first excursion, hearing the pain and anguish of the people native to the planet his army had chosen to attack. Five came quickly to the decision that he had to leave, and spent the few weeks after this exercise planning his escape. Luckily for him all of the extra training meant that he was better suited to make his escape, a harrowing process of slowly picking his way out of the barracks and through the very commanders who spent years putting him in the most brutal and rigorous training excersises anyone would be expected to go through. Finally Five made the conscious effort to escape to the furthest archived planet from his own, Earth, knowing that he could try to make a new life there without the burden of his own society.

His escape was simple enough, it was during a day of training in hand to hand combat, he managed to incapacitate his trainer with a lot more force than was expected of him, using his telepathy to strengthen the blow. He’d been thinking about it for a long time so had devised the perfect way to go about it, knowing he’d need to take nothing with him he managed to keep the perfect calm of a totally determined man. He put all of his energy into strengthening the use of his cloaking ability, meaning that he wouldn’t be picked up by any sensors and giving him the much needed discretion required to getting into the flight hangar. There were a full range of flight-capable vehicles and that was his biggest problem, enough vehicles and they’d have no problem following him. He went about rendering the few other soldiers in the room unconscious before prepping one shuttle for flight, knowing that he’d have just enough fuel to get there, but it wasn’t a round-trip he was planning. When he knew the craft was ready he had one last thing to do, swallowing all emotion of the situation it would put his people into, not that they were ever truly his people. He put the last resource of strength he possessed into his combustion ability, tearing apart the atoms from every other craft in the hangar, knowing it would give him all the extra time he needed to disappear and fully integrate himself into his new life on earth.

When he arrived on earth Five made a strategic decision to move around often, mostly in southern states of America knowing that someday soldiers could come for him when they had more ships, and they might even have a chance of taking him if they made earth their next target. With this in mind he continued to train, but in a way that was a lot less strenuous and kept to a much lighter schedule than what he’d been raised on. He learned a lot about the intricacies of the planet, using some of his skills to forge his life here, including a bank account to support the fact that one of the core aspects of his new life was being able to have things he never had previously, his own belongings, his own luxuries. The greatest part of this was that his ability to afford luxuries wasn’t as much of a selfish habit than that of his previous world, to his knowledge no-one had to die for these luxuries. Using all of the skills he’d been given integrating was quite an easy feat, his first step was perfecting a southern accent to rid any alien traces from his speech. He also spent a long time simply observing the habits of other people, including long hours spent in coffee shops and bars, the bars which are probably to blame for some of his more Southern sensibilities. Then after his stage of observance he had to step up to interaction, which was a lot easier in the theoretical stages rather than practise. His first few encounters being awkward, mumbling conversations with people. Obviously after a long life of solitude he wasn’t about to step out and become the life of the party. The first few months were just as hard and just as lonely as his life back on Triskelien, just in an entirely different format but slowly he became comfortable, gaining confidence in himself and lead by his curiosity on what life could be like here. Compared to Triskelien his new life was paradise, there was even time for romantic attachments, something mostly unheard of back on his home planet unless you were part of a breeding program. Everything was new and exciting and he loved it in a way he never thought he’d have been stimulated if the plans the Triumvirate had for him came to fruition.

Five learned that there were great pleasures to be found in this human world, and also developed some habits along the way. He found that smoking and drinking lowered some of his inhibitions and hang-ups making it a lot easier to integrate with other people and forget some of his nervousness about how he didn’t quite belong. He also began to revel in the idea of being able to do what he wanted, whenever he wanted. He’s been on the planet for a full year now, and there’s only been one subtle attempt at recapture, simply a squad of Triskelien soldiers who were sent to ask him to reconsider, they couldn’t risk killing him after all the effort they put into making him perfect. The biggest downside of that being that it meant Five was left in a position where he was perfect, and moreso unattainable, but just because he feels safe, doesn’t mean he’s lost those aspects of his personality more inclined towards defensiveness.
